Our Bridal Party

Heather - Maid of Honour

I met Heather at my very first Girl Guide camp, in 1996. I was 9 and she was alot older (or so it appeared to me, at the time). Any way, we both thought it was cool that we had the same name, although I was very shy and probably didn't say anything! We kept seeing each other at Guiding functions, and had a great time. At pretty much every Girl Guide event we were always together. We both stayed in Guiding right to the end, and when I was a Ranger, Heather came as one of the adults on our trip to Montreal. In Montreal it got so confusing that I was called 'Tom', and Heather was called, 'Stew' because there were only 5 of us, and two of us were called Heather! One day, we spent a couple of hours trying to remember how to ask, "Where is the ice cream" in French, but by the time we figured it out, we had found the ice cream anyway. During our trip planning, I quite enjoyed calling up Heather's work. When she wasn't in, I enjoyed saying to her co-workers, "Please tell Heather that Heather called." Heather and I see each other off and on, but we still try to send emails, and keep up with each other on Facebook.

Nathan - Bridesman

I met Nathan in June 2007. I had been hired to be the Daycamp Director for a technology daycamp. Nathan was hired to be one of my instructors. His very first day I thought to myself, "Oh boy..." But we made it through the summer, me harrassing Nathan to do his paperwork, Nathan eventually doing it, and it was a pretty good summer. In August, Nathan was looking for a roommate, and I was looking for a house, so we decided it would be easiest if I just moved in with him. The other instructor wished me luck, as he had visions of Nathan barging in at anytime saying, "Guess What!" followed by some weird/geeky thing he had learned/found on the internet. It turned out that that happened quite a bit, but Nathan and I became great friends. I moved out just after Nathan moved to Montreal, but we've still kept in touch through instant messages, and facebook.

Élise - Best Woman

When I first met Élise in August 2003, it was clear that we were going to get on well. Although we did not see each other for awhile after that first meeting, we gradually became good friends. We tend to think alot alike, but to express it in very different ways. She is currently between jobs, but she likes working as a summer and day camps counselor. One day, while walking in Montpellier with some friends, we just looked at each other, and knew to both start running down the road tunnel to freak them out. Élise has been there in my best moments, and when we stop talking regularily for any reason she always comes back in time to assist me through my worst.

Rémi - Groomsman

Rémi is my back row mate from maths, and then computer science, right after high school. Rémi and I always had a crazy plan, be it to go grab a beer after class, or to make the lectures a bit less dull for everyone. After we left for our respective schools, we kept in contact sporadically, but everytime we get a chance to go and grab a drink, we do. He remains the person I go see if I have problems Élise cannot solve.
